The Velvet Room Dream - Part 2/2

Oh my, is it snack time? Is there anything good to eat in the fridge? (Or pantry?)

“We’ve got hay sandwiches, apples, some pastries from Sugarcube Corner. Basically nothing really that different than most ponies in Ponyville.”

“Except for emeralds and sapphires and rubies and topaz and onyx and quartz and-”

“Right right, Spike eats gemstones along with what ponies eat. So that’s something ‘interesting’, but not really 'good’ in my opinion. And as a kid I tried one to see why he liked it… I lost about five teeth that day.”

Has your latest dream made you develop a sudden interest in tarot cards?

“To be quite blunt, I’m curious about the ‘meaning’ behind them more than the actual cards and readings themselves. Supposedly each card represents something different in the pony getting read’s life. It’s all a bunch of cold readings and the like, though. I’ve been looking up the Major Arcana though, but nothing’s really interesting me right now.”

If you're studying the magic of friendship, then you must have friends, no? How would you describe them?

“I have five really close friends besides Spike. First off is Applejack, she’s one of the most dependable, honest, trustworthy ponies I know, and she’s one of the hardest workers too. Then there’s the gentle, kind Fluttershy. She’s a pegasus, by the way. She spends most of her time caring for the animals in the Everfree, but she’s so timid with other ponies. Then… Rarity. Rarity’s a generous, fashionable, and all around wonderful mare, though I don’t know why others seem to think otherwise. Pinkie Pie’s the prime party pony in Ponyville, and she’s bubbly and happy and loves to make ponies laugh. Last but certianly not least is the ‘One and only’ Rainbow Dash. She’s an aspiring wonderbolt, loyal, and brash, but still cares about anypony even if she doesn’t show it.”

“My friends are magical, and without them I wouldn’t be the pony I am today.”

I hope there has not been any weird deaths in the news recently. Has anything weird been reported?

“Deaths? No… Honestly, the news has, to be frank, been just dull for the last couple months, since my brother and Cadance’s wedding.”

So have you talked to Applejack to see how she feels about the farm's expansion?

“She’s been really busy.”

“Extremely. I’ve barely had time to talk to her, she’s been so busy. At least nowadays she is actually resting every once in a while- even if it’s still not as much as we think she needs-, and it hasn’t gotten to the same level as last Applebuck season. ”

“Yeah, no more ‘Baked Bads’. I don’t know why anypony didn’t like them!”

“Honestly, I think I might be using the wrong word- I’m not versed in that type of jargon. It was just a fully detailed story about the farm. I didn’t get a chance to read it myself. I think there was a mention of a possible one between Big Mac and Cheerilee in the tabloids, but that isn’t really an affair.”

“I read a bit about it!”

“Spike?”

“Yeah, Rarity showed me the newspaper and the tabloid. The tabloid was just some horseapples about Granny Smith faking her injuries, the CMC being used to mess up the farm to get money from insurance, and Big Mac running off with Cheerilee and leaving the farm. The newspaper, which actually had facts and stuff, was just about how Applejack is really helping the farm expand! I think… I didn’t really pay much attention to the news either.”

Hint, pay attention to the recent events.

“What recent events? As far as I know, the only thing that’s happened recently was a bit of a Sweet Apple Acres "expose” as Rarity would call it in the newspaper… And I’m not sure how to do that accent on this thing.“

Can you believe how long it's been since Nightmare Moon was defeated?

“It’s been about two years or so. I’m surprised you mentioned the incident with Princess Luna, and not the more recent Changeling Invasion. It was the biggest thing that’s happened to us recently.”
